Based on the advice of public health agencies, and the recent decision by the Government of Ontario to prohibit all organized public events of more than 50 people to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) and AthletesCAN have cancelled the Ethical Sport Symposium: Shaping Your 2021 Canadian Anti-Doping Program, originally scheduled for May 6, 2020 in Ottawa.

The Symposium had been organized to bring together athletes and sport leaders from across Canada to discuss how to best incorporate new World Anti-Doping Code provisions into the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP). The new Code is due to come into effect on January 1, 2021.

The CCES and AthletesCAN remain fully committed to meaningful consultations. We are exploring other reliable, accessible and cost-effective ways to consult to ensure that any revisions to the CADP are in keeping with the best interests of athletes, coaches, sport organizations and the broader sport system.

Further updates will be issued via email, social media and website as consultation plans are finalized.
